What To Expect During Your Visit

South Point Chiropractic in Surrey uses the Gonstead System, which is unique because it is thorough, complete, and specific in both analyzing and treating the spine. We address your entire spine when evaluating for the presence of vertebral subluxations (spinal misalignments producing nerve interference or irritation) which cause ill health.

How We Accomplish This in Surrey

  • X-ray Analysis
X-ray films enable visualization of the entire structure of your spine. This is helpful in evaluating for any disease processes, fracture, posture, joint and disc integrity, and vertebral misalignments. South Point Chiropractic now offers digital x-rays.
  • Exam
Upon your first visit, Dr. Prii will perform a comprehensive health history, a thorough spinal examination that includes neurological, chiropractic evaluation, and palpation.
  • Palpation
Palpation is the process of feeling your spine to detect swelling, tenderness, and motion of the vertebra.
  • Instrumentation
The preferred instrument used in the Gonstead System is the Nervoscope. The Nervoscope detects uneven distributions of heat along the spine which can be indicative of inflammation and nerve pressure. This instrument is guided down the length of your back and feels like two fingers gliding down each side of your spine.
  • The Gonstead Adjustment
After a complete analysis, Dr. Prii is ready to perform any necessary spinal adjustments. The focus of the Gonstead adjustment is to be as specific, precise, and accurate as possible. Dr. Prii utilizes his hands to reposition the misaligned vertebra which corrects this biomechanical problem. This allows for proper nerve function and restoration of optimal health. The adjustment is a gentle procedure.

Chiropractic is beneficial for musculoskeletal problems. Visceral problems including asthma, digestive disorders, migraines, ear infections in children, bedwetting, and menstrual disorders can also be related to spinal nerve function and can often be helped through chiropractic care. Our Training

Education
All doctors of chiropractic must complete a rigorous and detailed education. After completing the necessary pre-med coursework, they begin a four-year program at an accredited college of chiropractic. The chiropractic curriculum includes detailed studies of: anatomy, physiology, X-ray, clinical sciences, spinal biomechanics and adjusting, preventative health care, and many other related topics. By the time of graduation, the average doctor of chiropractic has completed 4,485 classroom hours, compared to 4,248 classroom hours completed by a medical doctor. Most chiropractic colleges have extracurricular Gonstead clubs, where aspiring students can spend time in addition to the standard coursework in studying and refining their skills needed to excel in the Gonstead System.

The Gonstead System
After graduation, doctors of chiropractic have many opportunities to further their education in the Gonstead System. The Gonstead Seminar is taught by renowned doctors who practice chiropractic consistent with the teachings of the late Dr. Clarence Gonstead. Through these seminars, doctors of chiropractic can earn advanced certification in the Gonstead System. In addition, this system has many researchers conducting ongoing studies to ensure that it is on the cutting edge. Licensed Gonstead doctors exist worldwide, offering their expertise in this highly advanced and results driven healing art.
